Daily Devotion: Just Today
Note: This post opens a new season here on Energion.com, in which we will share devotions from our authors each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We begin with a devotional from Linda Estes and her book Good Morning, Lord!.
Good morning! As Alan has been gone several months now, I’m starting to get back in a routine. I don’t know why, but routines help bring a certain order into my life, especially when everything else seems out of order. I think that’s how God designed it to be. Scripture tells us that we are only supposed to deal with the 24 hours that God gives us each day. We are to leave all future days in His capable hands and together we will deal with them when that day arrives. It’s not our job to figure out the future but we are to live in the present moment, keeping our eyes focused on what God is doing right now. One of my favorite psalms is Psalm 118:24. “This is the day which the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” So this morning, I’m beginning my day by thanking the Lord for this day He has given me and all that He will allow to be in it. And for tomorrow … I’ll do the same. So today, here’s to keeping our focus on the here and now. (Linda Estes, Good Morning, Lord!, p. 21)
