Reimagine YOUR Community
Have you ever sat quietly and looked around your neighborhood? Have you ever drove to church on Sabbath and looked around the surrounding area, wondering what others were doing at the same time? Have you ever “reimagined” your community?
I’m watching a grandmother with tears in her eyes as a young man carries two boxes of groceries to her modest car. There’s a small boy who just found a super hero t-shirt on the clothes table and now he has a big grin across his face. A young man goes into the free HIV testing motor home. Another man is talking to woman about health insurance. He looks like he might have some health problems. There’s a tent across the way with a big sign, “PRAYER”. A young woman is quietly talking with a mother holding a baby. She begins to pray with her.
Henry and I are giving away some of our books. Devotion books, Bible study books, fiction, poetry, theology, even a Greek study book. People seem surprised that the books are new, and are free! We are doing what we do for everyone we meet wherever we are – encouraging people to spend time with God and using our books to help make that happen.
Reimagine my community. A place where people have a need and other people have a way to meet that need. No judgment as to whether you qualify for the help. That is God’s job, not mine.
Reimagine your community. With God’s plan and direction, big things can happen in someone’s life.
